
George Lee Mains, 87, of Malvern went to be with the Lord on March 01, 2016. George was born January 08, 1929 to James and Florence Mains. George was a member of the Crystal Springs Church of Christ. He was a “Mr. Fix it”, as he could repair anything. George loved all types of sports and he also loved being outdoors. George loved hunting, fishing and riding Harleys. His last years were spent with lifelong friend and companion, Bertie Hines of Malvern.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie Elizabeth Mains, two brothers and three sisters.
George is survived by his sons, Forrest Mains of Royal; Thomas (Kristen) Mains, of Royal; two brothers, Frank (Katherine) Mains of Guthrie Center, IA; Ward (Shirley) Mains of Nevada; one sister, Emily Harringer of Panora, IA; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services will be held on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at Rockport Cemetery. Minister Ed Coffman will be officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 4, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Atkinson Funeral Home Chapel. Pallbearers are Frank Mains, Wayne Mains, Ben Mains, Randy Mains and Tom Baker.
